Tomas Alfaro also known as Mikeo (75) of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois unexpectedly passed away May 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Tomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle and God father. He was born in Houston, Texas on January 25, 1948 to the late Serafin and Tomasa Alfaro. He attended Zion Benton High School. Tomas met his honey bunch Virginia Margaret (Martinez) on a blind date. The two married on September 5, 1972 and were happily married for 50 years. He loved grilling, cooking, entertaining, and spending time with his family while listening to Tejano music. Tomas loved to make his chile molido. He had a passion for Juan Wayne, Bonanza, and Wagon Train movies, along with the Food Network. He could watch Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and the News for hours. During his spare time, Tomas would work on projects around his home and he enjoyed reading. Tomas worked for Domnick’s Finer Foods for 38 years. He retired from Dominick’s on January 25, 2010. From his experience as a Meat Cutter, he passed on his love for fine quality cuts of meat and seafood to his children and grandchildren. He was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. You could find him in his recliner on Sundays watching football. He was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church for 30 years. Tomas is survived by his wife Margaret, his four children: Annamelia (Bruce) Earnest of Zion, Illinois. Tomas Alfaro Jr. of Zion, Illinois. Annalisa Iskalis of Beach Park, Illinois, Amedina Alfaro of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Six grandchildren Bradley (Ady) Earnest, Johnathan (Edmy) Earnest, Leighana (Mike) Foster, Gabrielle Bennet-Alfaro, Karissa Kristan, Kennedi Kristan. Seven great grandchildren: Mayah Earnest, Avery Earnest, Dominic Foster, Zoey Foster, Abel Earnest, Olivia Earnest, Damien Foster. He is also survived by his siblings, Domingo (Gloria) Alfaro, Felipa Navarro and sibling in-laws Juanita Alfaro, Manual (Anita) Martinez, Francisco Martinez Jr., Sara Santos, Juanita Jaramillo, Olga Rico, and Mage Martinez and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, parent in-laws Francisco (Esther) Martinez, Siblings: Santos (Tomasa) Alfaro, Julio (Grace) Alfaro, Antonio Alfaro, Ramon Alfaro; son-in-law Thomas P. Iskalis; Sibling In-Laws Guadalupe Navarro, Robert Martinez, Irma Montelongo, Raymond (Alicia) Martinez, Mary Martinez, Juan Jaramillo. Nieces/Nephews; Ray Alfaro, Raymond Alfaro, Rosie Rivera, Yolanda Moreno, Francisco Martinez Jr. III, Jose Rico, Julio Jaramillo, Jesus B. Martinez Sr., John Martinez, Diane Ballantyne, Jose Martinez. Funeral mass will be 10:30 AM, Friday, May 19, 2023 at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd Beach Park, Illinois 60099. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Rd Waukegan.
