Theofone Patterson Obituary (2021)

Theofane “Theo” Patterson entered into eternal life on August 15, 2021. Theo was a lifelong resident of North Chicago and Waukegan and a proud member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Throughout her life, her community and faith remained important and constant sources of guidance and support. Theo was most fulfilled while spending time with those she loved. She was raised in a home with her devoted parents and seven siblings with extended family members always close and constantly visiting. She recreated this “open door policy” by welcoming friends and family into her home, but also extended palpable hospitality to patrons of her family’s establishments and businesses within the community throughout the years. Theo’s family will always remember her infectious laughter, her fun and bubbly personality, and her impeccable knack and desire to feed whomever she welcomed into her home. She always made sure that the people in her life left with more than they came with and was sure to fill your heart as much as she filled your plate. She was married to the love of her life, George W. Patterson, for 53 years before his death in 2010. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Anthony Couvall, her beloved sister Theresa Karigan, her brother Peter Couvall, sister-in-law Donna Couvall, her brother-in-laws Frank Karigan, William Mitchell, and Nicholas Rendziperis, and her nephew Jonathon Couvall. She will be loved immensely and forever by her sons William (Denise) Patterson and Anthony G. Patterson. She provided comfort and care as the role of “Yiayia” to her grandchildren George William (Marina) Patterson, Christianna (Michael) Broton, George Anthony Patterson (Samantha Alfirevic), Theaphania Patterson (Christopher Biggs), and David A. Patterson. She continues to be remembered and cherished by her siblings Edna Mitchell, Loverne Couvall, Patsy Rendizperis, George (Jacquelyn) Couvall, and James (Janet) Couvall. Theo was an incredibly proud aunt, great-aunt, and role-model to her many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 19th from 9:30-11:30am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1400 N O’Plaine Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048), with a funeral service immediately following. The family requests that the burial service remain private. Funeral arrangements are being overseen by Peterson and Patch Funeral Home of Waukegan.
