Sonia Arceo Buchanan

Sonia A. Buchanan aged 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at her home in Waukegan, Illinois. She was born on August 16, 1953 in the Philippines. She was a dedicated and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Sonia enjoyed recording and watching various movies and TV shows. She collected hundreds of VHS video tapes and DVD's over the years; her favorites included Star Trek, Lost in Space, The Bionic Woman, Charlie's Angels, Twilight Zone, Dark Shadows, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and The Walking Dead.

On July 27, 1979, Sonia married Albert Buchanan, Jr. in Brilliant, OH. She met Albert while he was stationed in the Philippines. Albert was active in the US Navy at the time they met.

On October 8, 1980, Sonia gave birth to her oldest daughter, Michelle Buchanan (now Linker) in Maryland. Her second daughter, Elisa Buchanan (now Gano) was born on January 17, 1982 also in Maryland. Tammy Buchanan was her last daughter born on June 19, 1984 in Ohio.

Sonia was a home maker. She loved her family unconditionally and their happiness was her number one priority. She was extremely generous when it came to her family's wants and needs. She will be dearly missed by her family.

She is survived by her husband Albert, three daughters Michelle, Elisa, and Tammy; along with seven grandchildren ages 2 through 13 years old.

Memorial services will be privately held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Peterson Funeral Home from 2-5pm in Waukegan, IL for the immediate family and close friends.
