Michael Galbraith

Waukegan, Illinois

Michael F. Galbraith, 71, of Waukegan, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2021 after a long illness. Mike was born on March 17, 1949 in Waukegan, IL.

Mike led a life of adventure and had a zest for learning. He was an Eagle Scout in his youth, and while studying at South Dakota State University, began skydiving. He made over a thousand jumps. He enjoyed many outdoor activities at his second house in Rapid River, MI.

He was an early Apple Computer fanatic and throughout the years, taught himself programming languages and multiple publishing and graphic programs, prompting him to start a home business named Laser Communications. He took great pride in his work and had a great eye for design and layout. For his career, Mike worked in sales at North Shore Printers, retiring in 2015.

Mike was always helping friends, family, and neighbors with any projects that needed to get done. He always had a project of some type going, and when he wasn’t actively working on one, he was thinking of one.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Diane (nee Puckett), his daughter Erin, his brother Patrick (Lynn) Galbraith, his sister Anne (Bill) Robbins and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter Meghan Lee and his parents, Wilbur P. (Bill) and Alice Callahan Galbraith.

Memorials may be made to the Meghan Galbraith Scholarship Fund at Girls Rock! Chicago (girlsrockchicago.org) or the charity of your choice. No services will be held at this time.
