Kevin J. Bennett Obituary (1957

Kevin James Bennett, 62, of Algoma, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by his loving children on December 30, 2019, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois following a long illness. A devoted son and father, Kevin was born on January 21, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio son of the late James and Phyllis Bennett. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Bennett, sons Mark and Matthew Bennett and grandson Weston. He is also survived by his sisters, Sandra Stockel, Falls Church Virginia, Judi Bushong, Fairfield, Ohio, Jessica Nickerson, Liberty Township, Ohio. Kevin graduated from Findlay High School in 1975. While in high school, Kevin was on the golf team and played the tuba in the marching band. He graduated from Illinois Benedictine College with a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Science in 1978 and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1980. During his professional career, Kevin served as a Nuclear Engineer, retiring from NextEra Energy Resources in 2017. Kevin loved to drive and traveled extensively across the United States touring the countryside, visiting National Parks, monuments and museums, and visiting family. His most recent prized possession was a bright red 1973 Ford Mustang Mach I that he had restored. He could always be counted on to be at important family events. Friends and family marveled at his endurance on the road, often driving straight though from upper Wisconsin to Cincinnati and Virginia. Kevin was a road warrior. Kevin’s Funeral and Visitation will be held at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 11144 Spinner Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45241 on January 18, 2020. Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am with the funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am. A reception celebrating Kevin’s life will follow the funeral mass and burial at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Reading Ohio.
