Jill Marie Shield Obituary (2021)

Jill M. Shield (nee Kinsey) Jill Shield of Beach Park, IL, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, May 15, 2021. She was born on February 8, 1958 in Waukegan, IL to Peggy Bouchard (nee Taylor) and Don Kinsey. She leaves behind her sisters Jacki (David) Lowy, Noreen Bouchard, her nephew Michael Lowy, nieces Ellen Lowy and Ashlee Calflisch, brother-in-law Mike (Diane) Shield, her four-legged best-friend, Charlie Barker, and too many friends to count. She retired from Abbott in 2011. After retirement she worked a few other jobs, but her most favorite was working at Glen Flora Tap & Grill. There she was known as the Bar Mom to the owners Steve, Tyler and Jeramiah. She kept them in line and made sure when she was working, everything ran smoothly. She was the ultimate Cub fan, having attended games in the 1960’s. If asked, she could repeat the line-up the 69 Cubs without batting an eye. She had the best sense of humor and could laugh at herself. She would laugh so hard she would snort! Rarely was she seen without a smile on her face and quick one-liner. She loved her MGD, and the only thing she was sad about in the last few weeks, was that beer no longer tasted good! She asked her doctor when she could enjoy a beer again! She enjoyed the Girl’s Locker Rooms (Pat Styx, Christine Gorman, Cyndi Harris, Alice Swank, Ilene Duffy, Cathy Rowe), Friday Night Cocktail Parties with the Styx, Ross, Gorman, Pachey famiies), Annual Vegas Trip with her mom and sisters (32 years), and playing the slots while she should have been working at the Tap! We always knew she was sitting on a horseshoe as she won often. (We believe her mother left the horseshoe to her as she had the same luck!) She was preceded in death by her mother Peggy, step-father Wayne, sister Donna, husband Dan’l, and her in-laws Donald and Susan Shield. A celebration of her life will be held at Glen Flora Tap & Grill on Sunday May 23, 2021 from Noon to 4:00 pm. Come enjoy some food, raise a glass and share your favorite Jill stories!
