Hubert Bailey
Hubert Bailey went home to be with sweet Jesus on October 10, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on September 27, 1948, in Kingston, Jamaica. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Lucille Bailey, and his sister, Janet Turner.
Hubert was married to Marina (Bailey) Pennington and was a loving father to his three daughters, Asha Bailey, Jamila Williams (Jeffery), and Chinue Uecker (Benjamin). He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, three grandchildren, Jacquelyn Williams, Jackson Williams, and Asta Uecker; his sisters, Diana Bailey, and Arlene Brown; his nieces and nephews, Sheree Powers, Camille Turner, Doreen Vaughn (Emmett), Lee Banks (Doris), LaShuan Davis (Robert), Stephanie Cowen, Anna Brown, and Aron Brown; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Hubert’s life and legacy will live on through the generations of his family. Although his passing leaves a great void in the hearts of those who loved him, they will find comfort in the memories they shared and the love that will forever connect them.
Hubert was a devoted father, a hardworking provider, and a man whose life reflected the values of perseverance and commitment. He instilled these values in his children not only through his words, but through the example he set every day. Hubert studied at the College of Lake County. He worked at OMC, Sears, and Intrupa Manufacturing Company for over 25 years, earning accolades in recognition of his dedication and work ethic. He was known for his unwavering reliability, showing up when others could not, even in the harshest Chicago weather, when he wasn’t feeling well himself, or whenever extra work needed to be done. His strong sense of responsibility and commitment to providing for his family were evident throughout his life.
Friends and family also knew Hubert as an avid Chicago sports fan, especially of the Cubs and Bears. His compassion for others was evident through his lifelong participation in blood drives and his decision to become an organ donor. Hubert’s legacy of hard work, generosity, and selflessness will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 am on Monday, October 26, 2026, with a Remembrance Service beginning at 1:00 pm and Prayer at 130 PM at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N Sheridan Rd, Waukegan, Illinois.
Interment will be at 2:00 pm, with family and friends, at North Shore Garden of Memories Cemetery, 1801 N Green Bay Rd, North Chicago, Illinois.
Instead of flowers, feel free to make a special donation to the American Red Cross, City of Hope, or Donate Life America in memory of Hubert, as blood, cancer support, and organ donation were important to Hubert.
Hubert has completed his earthly journey and is now at rest. May he rest in eternal peace and be welcomed home into the loving arms of sweet Jesus.
