Con A. Lasaitis

Waukegan, Illinois

Constantine “Con” A Lasaitis of Waukegan, Illinois cut his sails and turned towards the sunset one last time on Monday, October 18, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on January 23, 1939 in Kaunas, Lithuania. Con spent much of his youth in Frankfurt, Germany before immigrating to the US with his parents in 1950 as part of the World War II Displaced Persons Act finally settling in Waukegan, Illinois. He graduated from St Bartholomew Parochial School in 1954 and Waukegan Township High School in 1958. He became a Naturalized Citizen on April 16, 1963 and served in the US Army from 1962-1968 earning an Expert Badge in Rifle Marksmanship of which he was very proud. Con met Kathleen Richards of Zion, Illinois while working at Dynapar in Gurnee, Illinois and they married on May 10, 1969. After many diverse jobs through the years he found his professional calling at Abbott Laboratories first as a draftsman and later as a Development Engineer from 1974 until his retirement in 2002. Con’s career there included earning 7 US Patents for hospital products many of which are still used in IV delivery systems today. His retirement allowed him time to pursue his passions including drawing and painting which he greatly enjoyed doing with his grandchildren along with many outdoor activities: sailing, biking, skiing, hiking and driving his Corvette. He also enjoyed many trips to visit family and recreate in the mountains and deserts of the Western US. He was fortunate to be able to enjoy all of these pursuits until very recently. Con is survived by his wife of 52 years Kathleen “Kathy” Lasaitis of Waukegan, Illinois; son David (Amy) Lasaitis of Silverthorne, Colorado; son Matthew (Gina) Lasaitis of Nolensville, Tennessee; and beloved grandchildren Savanna and August Lasaitis of Silverthorne, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents Konstantinas and Adele (née Snarskis) Lasaitis and his brother Rimas.
