Bonnie Sue Miller

Bonnie Sue Miller (nee Carpenter), 75, of Waukegan, passed away suddenly from a short illness, on March 23 to join her beloved husband Kenneth in everlasting life. Bonnie was born on 12/26/1940 in Waukegan, IL at Victory Hospital to Wayne and Opal Carpenter. She graduated from Waukegan Township High School and Illinois State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. Bonnie taught in several schools in Waukegan before finally settling at North School. Bonnie taught in the Waukegan School System for almost 40 years before retiring to be with her husband who also going to retire within the following year. Unfortunately, Kenny passed away on November 4, 1994. Bonnie found it too hard to sit home so she went back to subbing to keep busy until a position opened up at St. Patrick’s Catholic School. Bonnie could not have been more blessed. The co-workers, students, and families became her family. She loved every day she taught there. She taught there for almost 20 years before finally retiring for the last time, but she left there with many lifelong friends. Bonnie kept busy during retirement doing one thing for sure, reading, reading, and some more reading!!! She was at the public library at least once a week. She definitely practiced what she taught!!! She also loved to go to the concerts on the lakefront in the summer. She and her dear friend, Linda Ventrelli had season passes to attend the shows at Marriott Lincolnshire. She enjoyed going to lunch with high school girlfriends once a month. Some of them she had gone to school with since grade school. You could pretty much find her doing anything that someone asked as she so enjoyed being around people. She had students she would still meet for dinner and/or movies. She loved to go to the apple farm in the fall. She just loved to be busy. She belonged to PEO, She previously belonged to ADK Sorority. She loved to travel, but mainly to one place, Santa Cruz, CA. That’s because it held two of her most precious things, her grandsons Nicholas Miller (14) and Charlie Miller (11). She loved going for yogurt, going to the boardwalk, whale watching, going to the ocean, and many other wonderful things they did together out there.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Miller; her father Wayne Carpenter; her mother Opal carpenter; her brother Jim Carpenter.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Melissa (Missy) Miller; her son Gregory Miller; her daughter-in-law; Marth Miller; her grandsons Nicholas Miller (14) and Charlie Miller (11). As well as beloved nieces and nephews, their loving children, and blessed children of theirs. She also leaves behind a large amount of friends from so many different walks of life. We rarely went somewhere that Bonnie didn’t know someone. She was truly loved and will be truly missed.

Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at St. Patrick Church 15000 Wadsworth Rd. Wadsworth, IL. 60083. Interment will take place at Ascension Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM – 9 PM on Tuesday March 29, 2016 at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME 408 N Sheridan Rd. Waukegan, IL. 60085 and from 8:30 AM to time of service on Wednesday at St Patrick Church.
