Anthony Peter Couvall Obituary (1979 - 2025)

Anthony Peter Couvall, affectionately known as Tony, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Born on March 2, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, Tony grew up in a family rooted in hard work, tradition, and love. Tony graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1997, where he left a mark as a talented athlete. He was passionate about sports, especially baseball, and continued to play baseball, basketball, and football in various local leagues after high school. Coaching the GoJo’s Baseball team was one of his greatest joys, he brought energy, encouragement and unwavering enthusiasm to every practice and game. His love for competition was only rivaled by his enthusiasm for NFL football season—his favorite time of the year. Tony relished every aspect of the game: planning game-day gatherings, cooking, placing friendly bets, and, most importantly, watching with friends and family. After high school, Tony worked at GoJo’s Restaurant, a cherished family business owned and operated by his father. There, he learned the value of service and community. In 2007, Tony served as a Code Officer for the City of Waukegan, he was deeply committed to his work and took great pride in his responsibility to the city and its residents. He was known among his colleagues for his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic. Tony is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donna (Edwards) and Peter Couvall, and his brother, Jonathan. He is remembered fondly by extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. Tony’s legacy lives on through the enthusiasm he shared, the games he cheered for, and the community he served with heart. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
