Myriam Santiago Obituary (1949 - 2024)

Myriam Esther Santiago, 75 years old of Waukegan, Illinois peacefully passed away on May 18, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born on February 18, 1949 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She was a devout Christian her entire life. She was a member of Iglesia El Renuevo. She met the love of her life, William R. Santiago, or as she would call him, Willo or Papi, on Elias Barbosa Street, their childhood neighborhood street in Puerto Rico. They were married for 57 amazing years and together formed a beautiful family. Willo adored his dear Myriam, he had many nicknames for her such as Gatita, Muñequita, Bel and Chulita. Their love is truly one of a kind. Myriam was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, traveling to Puerto Rico and cooking. Her delicious recipes were unmatched. Myriam was kind hearted, loyal and a woman of faith. She will be dearly missed and the memories shared with her will forever be cherished. Honoring her legacy are her husband, William R Santiago; her four daughters, Lisa Santiago, Netsie Santiago (Nana), Leila Santiago and Myriam Santiago-Smith (Bebe); 12 grandchildren; Lisa (Little Lisa), Tiffany (Negrita), Priscilla (Pre), Angelena (Ninita), Brittany, Bryanna, Alejandrina (Alex), Jenisa, Byanca, Daisy (Pooh), Tattyanna (Tatty), Shaquille (Shaq) and 28 great grandchildren; her siblings, Teresa Bermudez, Pablo Bermudez, Luis Bermudez and Domingo Bermudez; extended family and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clysoptomo Bermudez and Alejandrina Romero; her siblings, Juan Bermudez, Ramonita Mass and Grisel Bermudez. Myriam’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL 60085. The final viewing will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10:00am till 12 noon, at the funeral home as well. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, 33100 N Hunt Club Road, Libertyville, IL 60048. Myriam conoció al amor de su vida, William R. Santiago, o como ella le decía, Willo o Papi, en la calle Elias Barbosa, en su vecindario en Puerto Rico. Tuvieron 57 maravillosos años de matrimonio y juntos formaron una linda familia. Willo adoro a su querida Myriam, a quien solía llamar, Gatita, Muñequita, Bel, y Chulita. Su amor fue único. Myriam fue una devota esposa, madre, abuela, y bisabuela. Le fascinaba pasar tiempo con su familia, asistir a la iglesia, viajar a Puerto Rico y cocinar. Sus recetas eran incomparables. Myriam tenía un alma tan tierna, era leal y una mujer de fe. Se le extrañara mucho, las memorias que compartimos con ella, estarán por siempre en nuestros corazones. Ella dejo un legado con su esposo, William R Santiago; sus cuatro hijas, Lisa Santiago, Netsie Santiago (Nana), Leila Santiago, y Myriam Santiago-Smith (Bebe); 12 nietos; Lisa (Little Lisa), Tiffany (Negrita), Priscilla (Pre), Angelena (Ninita), Brittany, Bryanna, Alejandrina (Alex), Jenisa, Byanca, Daisy (Pooh), Tattyanna (Tatty), Shaquille (Shaq) y 28 bisnietos; sus hermanos y hermana, Teresa Bermudez, Pablo Bermudez, Luis Bermudez y Domingo Bermudez; familia extendida y muchas amistades. Ahora ella está en el cielo, a lado de sus padres, Clysoptomo Bermudez y Alejandrina Romero; su hermano, Juan Bermudez, y hermanas Ramonita Mass y Grisel Bermudez. Su velorio será el Miércoles, 22 de mayo de 2024 desde 4:00pm - 8:00pm en Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL 60085.
